  2. Pretty neat way to usher in March Madness... did you get summit fever as you neared the top???

I suppose I'll have to convince you to take me this summer...

    1. Nah, this was my 7th winter ascent and likely my 20th time to the top of Katahdin. At this point, the fever or the rush is over. It would take little to convince me to return to Katahdin's summit, you name the date I will be there.

  3. That's a cool video, Steve! I'm in Texas right now, and it's a balmy 80 degrees :( I'm from western Maine, and I feel jipped out of winter! I found your blog through OBN. Looking forward to following along and having a taste of home. I write 1,000 Miles on My Own Two Feet http://1000milesonmyowntwofeet.blogspot.com/ Hopefully I'll be back in Maine for a few months by the end of the year! I don't know that I'll climb Katahdin right then, but maybe when the snow melts! Thanks for sharing, happy trails :)

    1. Abby, LOL! 80! I was in a T-Shirt most of the day yesterday but it is unlikely it got much above 60. You have a nice looking blog and your photographs of the SW are beautiful! Are you returning to Maine permanently in 2013?

  4. Thank you, Steve! And yes. That's Texas! I'm sunburnt now, but todays there's a sandstorm. Although I hear Maine has been unseasonably warm, too, as my friends back home have mentioned. One is very ticked that she hasn't been cross country skiing ;)

Yes, sort of. We'll be in Maine for several months to visit family and rediscover Maine's wilderness (Hope it'll be a snowy season!). Following that, we're checking out America by RV for a while. But I don't think that trip will start until we have a chance to hike Katahdin...but not the rabid way!
