Have you seen "North Face"? It's about the 1936 attempt to summit the north face of the Eiger. I saw it for download on iTunes the other day and wondered if it was any good.
ReplyDeleteSurviving the Game, a homeless guy who lost his family gets an opportunity to work at a hunting lodge and then realizes he's the hunted... not bad
ReplyDeleteJeremiah Johnson that far down the list? I dunno...
ReplyDeleteA River Runs Through It.. True story and a great watch for anyone especially fly fisherman.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you're looking in this direction, but remember watching it more as a kid, The Swiss Family Robinson..
I see some great classics there and I do agree, even the most passionate of the outdoors like ourselves enjoy curling up in the warmth to watch a good movie.
ReplyDeleteI have seen Deliverance - Good Movie.
Whitetail Woods Blog / Deer Hunting and Blackpowder Shooting at it’s best.
uncle buck.....I love that movie...
ReplyDeleteThat's a great list. Personally, I would have to put The Edge higher than 16. It's definitely one of my favorites. Anthony Hopkins is awesome in that movie. Touching the Void is awesome too, and a great book. Deliverance freaks me out a bit haha. There are a couple that I haven't seen that I need to watch sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteMLO, No, I haven't seen "North Face" but perhaps I can add it to my Netflix! Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteDDH, Yes another good one. Man, the ultimate predator! Check out the short story by Richard Connell titled "Most Dangerous Prey".
ReplyDeleteIan, List isn't in order of greatest to least. Just as I remembered them! lol!
ReplyDeleteJustin, I bet I watched Swiss Family Robinson a 100 times as a kid. The battle at the end of the movie is the best!
ReplyDeleteRK, there should be no guilt in wanting to veg out from time to time. Even the most dedicated outdoorsmen needs a break now and then!
ReplyDeleteJason, Uncle Buck . . . HAHAHA! This axe is so sharp it could circumcise a gnat. Hmmmmm, bug, gnat seem similar to me . . . lol!
ReplyDeleteMattE, If Deliverance doesn't freak you out a little bit there is something seriously wrong with you. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI would have to rate "Rescue Dawn" (and the accompanying "Little Dieter Needs To Fly") up there. Of course, I know that there is some contraversy around this movie, and I know that it is not a landscape that we share in this country. But, there are a few interesting survival "gems" shown in the movie. Besides, I am a sucker for war movies, too.
ReplyDeleteNice blog! I just starting following as I got the link from DEDH! Feel free to check out my blog as I think you may enjoy today's post!!!!
ReplyDeleteDEM, I haven't seen either of those two movies. Will have to check to see if they are available on Netflix!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on the war movies . . . I think I have seen them all. Where Eagles Dare is one of my favorites.
Trey, Thanks! Nice you have found my blog! Your blog is great! Anyone who taunts and berates DEDH is a good friend of mine! :)
