Great Catch!
Above is an amazing video from this past weekend. Featured is my cousin (youngest Registered Maine Guide in the State!) and footage of the only Salmon we caught while fishing the hard waters of West Grand. As you will plainly see, these fish like nothing more than frustrating fishermen by managing to tangle themselves around every available piece of bottom structure. This typically results in having to break or cut the fishing line. In this particular case the ice fishermen struggles through a couple obstacles and finally wins in the end! Expect to see much more (video and photos) outlining an incredible weekend landing Salmon, oversized Mud Trout (Togue) and White Fish from a very memorable ice fishing adventure!

I, for one, was looking forward to photos of your trip. You did one better!
ReplyDeleteAre you at Dyer's Point or Norway Point in that video?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your cousin on a very nice fish. Thanks for sharing the video and looking forward to more of the same.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the first thing come out of the water, I thought, "Dang, we call that a stick...Them fellows must be frozen half way to oblivion to think that's a salmon."
ReplyDeleteBut I see that there was a fish on the end, and a nice one too!
Congrats!

WO and Mel, I will be sure to post more video and photo's. I still need to connect with my brother and download the photo's of the fish I caught. Hard to take a picture of yourself in all that excitement!
ReplyDeleteDEDH,
ReplyDeleteWe were fishing the "Throughfare" right on the connection point to Pocumpass Lake . . . I suppose technically I should have said we were on Pocumpass NOT Grand Lake. Leave it to you to keep me honest!
AAR,
ReplyDeleteIt was cold and we did get frozen to oblivion BUT it was still a great trip. The entire trick is to put on as many clothes as possible and then put on one more layer! Thankfully we were fishing from heated ice shacks and that was a total blessing and extremely comfortable.
Leave it to the Maine Guide to catch the only Salmon . . . man can that kid fish!!!
